About this design
A DD-214 alumni shirt, hoodie, and mug reading DD-214 ALUMNI HONORABLY DISCHARGED, printed to order for separated and retired veterans.
This design reads DD-214 ALUMNI HONORABLY DISCHARGED framed by two rows of stars. Every service member remembers the day they finally signed their separation paperwork, cleared the installation, and walked out the gate with a DD Form 214 in hand. Since the Department of Defense introduced the standardized form in 1950, those letters and numbers have served as the universal proof that a person did their time and finished their tour under honorable conditions.
Calling yourself a DD-214 alum is one of the oldest, friendliest inside jokes in the veteran community. It nods to the shared school of hard knocks without taking itself too seriously, and because every branch issues the exact same form at separation, the design works for every veteran regardless of where or when they served. It is a go-to gift for terminal leave, ETS separation parties, military retirements, Father's Day, and birthdays.
This collegiate-style layout is produced across our printed items: heavyweight cotton tees, long-sleeve shirts, pullover hoodies, ceramic coffee mugs, and vinyl stickers, all printed to order.

What is a DD Form 214?
DD Form 214, officially titled the Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty and governed by Department of Defense Instruction 1336.01, is the retirement and separation document issued by the Department of Defense that records a service member's dates of active duty, awards, and character of discharge. The form was first introduced in 1950 to standardize military separation records.
Which copy of the DD-214 is required for VA benefits?
The Department of Veterans Affairs requires an undeleted copy that shows Block 24 (Character of Service), most commonly the Member 4 copy or the Service 2 copy, rather than the short-form Member 1 copy.
