Our mission and independence
Truth Veteran provides plain-English, rigorously researched educational guides and interactive tools to help United States military veterans navigate disability compensation and federal benefits. The Department of Veterans Affairs benefits system contains thousands of pages of statutory rules, rating criteria, and procedural manuals that can feel overwhelming. We break down these complex regulations into clear, reliable explanations so veterans and their families understand how the system works.
Truth Veteran is an entirely independent educational resource and apparel provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense (DoD), or any other federal or state government agency. We are not a Veterans Service Organization (VSO), and our staff members are not VA-accredited claims agents, attorneys, or service officers. We do not prepare, present, or prosecute claims for benefits, we do not provide legal or medical representation, and we will never charge fees for claims help. Veterans seeking formal assistance with filing or appealing a disability claim should work with an accredited VSO representative, attorney, or claims agent recognized by the VA.
Privacy-first interactive tools
Our online disability tools, including our rating calculators and back pay estimators, are built to protect your personal privacy. All computations execute directly within your web browser using client-side JavaScript.
No medical history, disability ratings, service dates, or personal data entered into our calculators are transmitted to our web servers, saved to a database, or shared with third parties. When you refresh or close your browser tab, your calculations are immediately cleared. You can explore potential rating combinations and estimate benefit schedules without creating an account or revealing your identity.
Veteran apparel and merchandise
In addition to our free educational content, Truth Veteran operates an online store offering patriotic and military-themed apparel. Our graphic t-shirts and embroidered hats feature original typography—along with simple star and compass motifs—designed to honor military service and service eras including the Korean War, Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and Post-9/11.
In strict compliance with federal regulations, our products never display official military seals, department coats of arms, service-branch names, protected emblems, or government insignia. Every apparel item is made to order in partnership with our domestic print fulfillment provider, Printful. Producing items on demand minimizes textile waste and ensures quality craftsmanship. Learn more about our manufacturing standards and sizing on our apparel size guide and review our delivery schedules on our shipping policy page.
