About this design

A home of the free because of the brave shirt and hoodie with three stars, a plainspoken veteran design built on the national anthem's closing line.

HOME OF THE FREE sits above a gold rule, BECAUSE OF, and THE BRAVE, with three stars at the top. The line echoes the closing words of the national anthem, written by Francis Scott Key after the bombardment of Fort McHenry in September 1814. The design turns that borrowed phrase into a direct statement about who kept the country free.

It is for veterans and families who want a patriotic shirt without a flag photograph or a loud slogan. The layout works for Independence Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, or a citizenship ceremony, and it is restrained enough to wear on an ordinary weekend.

Our dad hats and mesh trucker caps carry the design in direct embroidery. The garment-dyed heavyweight tees, long-sleeve shirts, pullover hoodies, ceramic mugs, and vinyl stickers are printed to order.
