About this design
A Gulf War veteran hat and tee for veterans of the Persian Gulf era starting August 2, 1990, embroidered on caps and printed on shirts.
Gulf War veteran sets GULF WAR above VETERAN, with the same horizontal rule that holds the other era designs together. It is the shortest of the two-word era marks and the one most often asked for by people who served in the 1990–1991 buildup, the air campaign, and the hundred-hour ground war.
The design keeps the wording the VA uses rather than the operation names. Desert Shield and Desert Storm are specific operations with their own start and end; "Gulf War" is the broader period, and it is the term that covers the veterans whose service continued after the ceasefire and the years of no-fly-zone enforcement that followed.
Application follows the same rule as the rest of the range: direct embroidery on the Yupoong dad hat and trucker cap, direct-to-garment printing on the heavyweight tee. The two-line stack is sized so the top line still reads at cap scale, where the front panel is only about three inches tall.

Which dates count as Gulf War service for VA purposes?
The VA's Gulf War period began August 2, 1990, and by law it has no fixed end date, so later service in the same region falls under the same period. The 1991 ground war ended with a ceasefire on February 28, 1991, but the VA period did not close with it. Our Gulf War collection page covers the service dates and the related presumptive conditions.
Is Gulf War illness covered on this site?
There is a separate VA rating guide for Gulf War illness, which explains the undiagnosed-illness presumption under 38 U.S.C. § 1117 and how it is rated. The hat and tee are merchandise and make no medical claim.
